Problems downloading or opening files
Downloading and opening Real Quiz Company files is normally completely straightforward but if you do encounter problems check for the solution below or contact us, describing your difficulty and letting us know what type of computer or phone you are using (Windows 98, Windows 2000, Mac 'Tiger’, Android, etc).
‘Downloading files
If you are unable to download the quizzes to your work computer, they are probably being blocked or ‘queued’ by your organisation’s firewall. You may be able to download from a different location, from home for example. If not, simply contact us and we’ll deliver them by an alternative method at no additional cost to you.
If you receive an error message when you try to open your quiz file, stating that it is 'empty' or 'corrupt', it means that your file has not downloaded correctly. This can happen with some old versions of Internet Explorer. Simply repeat the download, this time right-clicking the download link and pressing 'Save Target As'.
Opening your files
If you are unable to open your files once they have downloaded to your computer, you are probably running a much older version of Windows such as NT, 98 or 2000, or a Mac earlier than OS X 10.3 ‘Panther’, and don’t have zip software installed. You can either download a Zip program such as the free jZip for Windows or Stuffit Expander for the Mac, or have us send you files suitable for your computer. More recent versions of Windows such as ME, XP, Vista and Windows 7, and Macs from 10.3 onwards, handle our files perfectly without requiring additional software.
If you open your quiz file and see code instead of readable text, you have probably attempted to open the file from within your word processor. Instead, navigate to the folder where your quiz is saved and double-click to open.
